Waking up Friday, I couldn't stop my grin. I rubbed my hand down my face, my scratchy stubble rough against my palm. I knew no matter what, I'd be seeing Kennedy tonight, and my cock swelled at the prospect of burying myself inside of her. I groaned and sat up, forcing myself to wait until tonight. Yawning, I stood up, shuffling to the shower. This week we'd talked about the progress she made against her anxiety, and I was so fucking proud of her. I needed to go to LA this weekend, and I wanted her to come with me. I knew it might be pushing her harder than she was ready for, but I had to try.

Just like last weekend, I'd have to push her outside of her comfort zone. She'd done a remarkable job pushing her boundaries so far, and my chest swelled with pride when I thought of how far she'd come in such a short time.

With a towel wrapped around my waist, I stepped out of the bathroom. I reached for my phone on the nightstand to send Kennedy a text like I did every morning. Instead, a message from my agent popped up, asking for a video chat. Montana generally left me alone while we recorded a new album. A sense of unease prickled at the back of my neck and slid down my spine.

I threw on a black t-shirt and jeans and padded barefoot down the hall to my office. Pulling up the video calling software, I dialed my agent.

Montana Blackwood was a fucking pitbull in Prada. I met her when Harrison brought her to a concert as his date. It didn't work out, but now they both worked for Shadow Phoenix. In the last five years, she'd stepped up for me time and time again.

I'd always been careful to keep our relationship strictly business. Even though I'd enjoyed more than my fair share of women, I didn't mix business and pleasure. Besides, we treated her like a little sister. Montana was sarcastic as fuck and had a dirty sense of humor. We considered her one of the guys.

As she came into view on the screen, her scowl loomed large in high definition directly in front of me. Montana didn't waste any time tearing into me. "What the fuck, Zen?"

"Good morning to you, too." I frowned, bracing myself for the inevitable shit storm headed my way. I rubbed my forehead. It was too goddamn early for this shit. She narrowed her eyes at me through the screen.

"The fuck it is. I got a disturbing call last night from Maddox. You want to tell me what the fuck is going through your head right now?"

My jaw clenched as I felt my heart rate pick up.

Goddamn Maddox.

That asshole loved stirring shit up.
